Welcome to AI as a Design Partner
I started this newsletter as a way to share different methods of leveraging AI as a design partner for digital product creators. As a AI and product inclusion and equity designer, I spend a lot of time thinking about the intersection of AI tools and equity design.
Product creators can use AI tools to become systematic auditors of AI-powered collaborative product design. New tools like Bard, ChatGPT, Midjourney, and MakerSuite enable creators to expand their collaborative product design capabilities. For example, AI tools can help creators document more inclusive user journeys by generating hundreds of ideas using different signifiers for user type.
Topics & explorations:
Patterns and principles for responsible AI
Scaling design processes using AI
Developing bias frameworks for measuring model quality
Audits and testing of new AI tools
AI as a design partner: how to leverage AI to design more inclusively to avoid excluding users
Prompt libraries to integrate into design methods
Leveraging AI for Design Sprint methods
Integrate AI-powered equitable and inclusive product design processes:
Product inclusion and equity is the ongoing work of building belonging through our products, by designing for the most marginalized voices at every phase of product creation. As digital product creators, we have the opportunity to systematize our product collaboration processes by leveraging AI to systematically design for everyone.
Some ways that product creators can be more systematic:
Collaborative product design methods (Design Sprints)
Customer user journey documentation
Collaborative design processes
